Sainte Adele:
The rolling hills and rounded mountains of the Laurentian Shield are among the oldest in the world, worn down by wind and water over eons. As rue Morin mounts the hill to Lac Rond, Ste-Adèle's resort lake, it's easy to see why the town is divided into a lower part and an upper part. The village only 67km north of Montréal, is a near-metropolis compared to the other Laurentian villages. Exploring Ste-Adele`s main street, rue Valiquette, is a busy one-way thoroughfare lined with cafes, galleries, and bakeries. But Lac Rond is the center of activities during the Ste-Adèle summer. Canoes, sailboats, and pédalos (pedal-powered watercraft), rented from several docks, glide over the placid surface, while swimmers splash and play near shore-side beaches. In winter the surrounding green hills are swathed in white, and the ski trails descend to the shores of the frozen lake. Downhill ski equipment can be rented and lessons obtained at Le Chantecler resort, which has 22 trails served by six chair lifts and two T-bars. Some of the trails end right by the main hotel. At the town's Centre Municipal, the trails are good for beginners: three T-bar lifts carry skiers up the slopes for runs down five different trails. A visit to this beautiful village in the Laurentians is likely to yield pleasant memories, you will find that Sainte-Adele is a better quality of life.
